HPC and Supercomputing Conference and Journal Rankings
Ranking conferences and journals is indeed a complex task. Different
metrics exist and a plethora of different free and commercial rankings
exists. A well established ranking is the AUS conference ranking
that based mostly on opinions of researchers. While this is probably the
best metric, it is unfortunately outdated and can be very biased
(Australian researchers only?) and some conferences (such as Euro-Par)
are just not listed. Another metric, the average citations per paper
(often called "impact factor") may be useful. While this may be biased
towards older conferences (which may have higher rankings by this
metric), it also shows how many active researchers follow a particular
conference series. A third metric is the H-index which was
developed to assess the impact of researchers but can also be applied to
conferences.
We list some conferences and journals that are in the HPC or
Supercomputing field (SPCL researchers published in most of them) with
their average citations per paper, H-index and their AUS ranking. This
data is mainly for our own reference, however, several people requested
to publish this list, thus we put it here. This list is not intended to
be complete and, most importantly, the rankings do not represent any
SPCL's researcher's personal opinion !!!; all data is based on the
database from Microsoft Academic Search
which is not always up to date.
The data in this page was updated with data from MS Academic Search on Dec. 9th
2012. The last list from Dec. 3rd 2011 was posted on Torsten
Hoefler's blog. Arnetminer data was added July 9th 2014.
The age of the conference (as shown in MS Academic Search) is in
brackets. We do not judge the conferences based on the data, we leave
this up to you. The lists are ordered by avg. citations per paper for your convenience. Feel
free to contact us if you think that anything is missing, incomplete or
erroneous.

(*) IPDPS lists all its workshop publications in the citation databases as well, which leads to a reduction in citations per paper of the main conference. Thus, in reality, one has to expect a much higher citation per paper rating for IPDPS.
